Rushworth Prospecting Club enjoyed its 10th birthday celebrations in the Rushworth bush recently.
A circle of friends told stories of the past and hopes for the future dominated conversation.
Club members, mainly from north-east Victoria, enjoy gold detecting in the general area and travelling to the Wedderburn and Golden Triangle gold fields.
The gold is as elusive as ever, but the fun of the chase is strong in eager detectors.
Small amounts are regularly found, but the dream is always for the big nugget.
The club’s founding and current president Jim Bartlett said membership had remained steady in the past 10 years since the club was established and there is always great interest in gold searching and enjoying the Australian bush.
