Ethan Shuttleworth, 3, and Dom Mellino from the Central Victoria Corvette Owners Group put together some of the new play equipment.

Children at Murchison’s Save The Children playgroup welcomed new equipment last week.

The equipment was bought with money from Central Victoria Corvette Owners Group, which it raised at a formal dinner in Shepparton attended by corvette owners from across the state.

One of the founding members of the group, Dom Mellino, was in Murchison on Friday to help the children put the equipment together.

‘‘We raised $640 (for Save the Children),’’ Mr Mellino said.

‘‘I really thought the money needed to go towards a place that is in an area of need, and Murchison is.’’

The money went towards buying two play prams for children to push each other around in, as well as play tables which can be filled with water or sand.

Greater Shepparton Communities for Children’s Play2Learn team leader Cate Thomas from Save the Children said the donation was great and would make a significant impact. ‘‘The big ticket items, the more expensive equipment, we wouldn’t have been able to purchase (on our own),’’ she said.
