Sing Australia Shepparton will perform again this year at Mooroopna's Carols by Candlelight.

Sing Australia's (back) Adrian Evans, George Deeble, Diane Baglin, Kathy Slingo, Meryl Fitzgerald, (front) Sharron Beard, Glenda Reynolds, Glenda Deeble and Clifton Boschetti.

Sing Australia Shepparton’s rehearsals start again this week after a short break with members looking forward to a busy festive season.

Conductress Clifton Boschetti said it was a great time to start singing with the group as they rehearsed carols in the lead-up to their Christmas program.

‘‘We’ll be singing carols that are well known to people; it’s a good way to ease into it,’’ she said.

Rehearsing each Tuesday at 7.15pm in Shepparton, leader Meryl Fitzgerald said the group was all about singing to the community and sharing a song.

‘‘There are no auditions — just come along and enjoy being involved with lovely singing, with a variety of songs,’’ she said.

Having gained an extra 15 members since the start of the year, they had more than doubled the amount of men in the group, but were still looking for more.

‘‘We have 10 men in our group who sang at a men’s breakfast for the Uniting Church,’’ she said.

‘‘We would love to have more altos and sopranos and men to join our group.’’

Ms Fitzgerald encouraged new singers to come along where the first two sessions will be free.

‘‘After the third Tuesday, you will be able to consider joining this great group,’’ she said.

Set to perform at Mooroopna Carols by Candlelight again this year, the group will perform several gigs in the lead up, including the Mooroopna market.

Ms Fitzgerald said joining the group was also a great way to travel.

‘‘I’ll be one of two members travelling to Hobart to the national gathering this weekend,’’ she said.

‘‘Throughout the year we have regional gatherings and we even travel overseas, heading to places such as Norfolk Island to sing at the Anzac commemorations there and we’re off to Italy next year.’’

The group will meet Tuesday from 7.15pm at the Shepparton Baptist Church, Longstaff St.
