Lions president honoured

By Southern Riverina News

After four years as president of Tocumwal Lions Club, Glennis Pohlner handed over the reins to Sandra Williams at the club’s annual changeover dinner last Thursday night at the Kingswood Motel.

Going out on a high, Mrs Pohlner was surprised to be presented with Lions International’s highest award — the Melvin Jones Fellow — along with former secretary Lidy Soule.

At the dinner Lions zone chairperson Inara Fox inducted the new board, with Gail Bourke as the secretary and Sun Lui treasurer.

During the evening Mrs Pohlner gave a report on the club’s successful year.

Some of the projects the club is involved in include junior public speaking, hosting ‘Children of Courage’, station museum, the charity golf day, retirement village, Community Aged Care Hostel, Care Centre building, and the lawn cemetery.
