Village residents on song at home

By Liz Mellino

Residents at Rodney Park Retirement Village in Mooroopna enjoyed a morning of song yesterday.

The home was visited by 12 members of Sing Australia Shepparton for a morning of music and great entertainment.

Sing Australia Shepparton leader Meryl Fitzgerald said the group visited a number of retirement homes around Greater Shepparton.

‘‘We love seeing the smiling faces of the residents and they sing along with us,’’ she said.

‘‘All of the singers are volunteers and we get so much pleasure out of singing for others, which is great.’’

A number of residents got to their feet to join in with the group, while resident Hetti Winters gave conductor Clifton Boschetti a helping hand.

Ms Fitzgerald said the group was always open to any new members, both young and old, who loved singing and enjoyed mixing with others.

The group rehearses on Tuesdays from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at the Shepparton Baptist Church, 600 Wyndham St, Shepparton.

‘‘It doesn’t matter what age people are, we have a young conductress and she is great at helping to bring the enthusiasm out,’’ Ms Fitzgerald said.

‘‘We really do have a lot of fun nights, we have a lot of laughter, it is really good.’’
