Thousands of rare and exotic flowers will be on display when Goulburn Valley Orchid Club presents its annual show this weekend.
Club secretary Brenda Wise said the popular event attracted thousands of orchid lovers every year from across the state.
She said visitors could expect potting demonstrations, beautiful flower arrangements, photo displays, and expert advice on the growing and care of orchids.
As well, there will be a raffle and 14 tables of plants for sale.
“The demonstrations are always popular — people get to see how to re-pot orchids and ask questions from top local growers,” Mrs Wise said.
She said there would be plenty of rare and locally-grown examples on show including Cymbidium and Cattleya orchids.
Mrs Wise said it had been a challenging year for orchid growers.
“We're a bit behind this year, the hot summer nearly drained them and then the winter was so cold. We always say it's bad — but they always come good. I'm nursing some at the moment,” she said.
GV Orchid Club's Spring Spectacular show is on Saturday, September 28 from 9am to 4pm, and Sunday, September 29 from 10am to 3pm at Kialla Paceway, 7580 Goulburn Valley Hwy.
Light lunch, morning and afternoon tea will be available.
Entry is $5.
